         Sampit city has a traditional culture whose everyone swim on Mentaya’s river and it was called ‘Mandi Safar’. It was on Arba Musta’mir to reminded about the death of Husain bin Ali bin Abi Thalib who led his army to leave Makkah to Kufah. In general, it was a symbol of unity between the government and the society. Everyone who join the event have to wearing the sawang’s leaf on the head or waist it to protect them from the bad things. There are 41 kinds of traditional cake like cucur, apam, wajik, etc., for everyone after the prayer at the end of the activity. The tradition became very popular because not only the people of the region but the government, tourist, or everyone can join with this one. Regardless the place of the event do, Mandi Safar usually crowded with visitors enthusiastic.

Noni’s Leaf Botok (Revise)

          Noni’s leaf botok was a delicious and unique food were made in Dayak, Central Kalimantan. The food has the same ingredients as botok that everyone knows. It just added the leaf of noni. Some people sliced the leaf and cooked it with the botok, but the other wraped it up the botok with the leaf. And sometimes they added baung fish for more tasted. The food not very popular yet, because many people thought the tasted of the food was horrible. They don’t know that the leaf had very high vitamin, mineral, protein, healthy, and delicious. However, this was a great food and everyone have to taste it.

One of the best cities in Central Borneo is Sampit city. According to reported data as of August 2009, the estimated population of Sampit is 66,053. The average elevation of the town is 25 metres (82 ft). Sampit lies in southern-mid Borneo on the banks of the Sampit’s river also called the “Mentaya River”. Sampit also called the Mentaya City.

Hoven’s carp also known as the mad barb, jelawat fish or sultan fish, is a species of fish in the barb family. This is a new mascot of Sampit.

Sampit town icon was built on the banks of Mentaya, as well as in Singapore. So from here we hope will open different types of small business opportunities to help improve the welfare of the community,” said Supian.

Government of Kotawaringin East, Central Kalimantan, continue to make improvements to make becoming a tourist town of Sampit in 2015. The arrangement of city park made a new atmosphere for sampit image. It has some public facilities that better than before like the new monument, new stage performance, paving block and etc.
